As ESTE North Clinic, we serve you with our expert staff with many years of experience in rhinoplasty (rhinoplasty). We consider the overall harmony of your face by evaluating your nose not only aesthetically but also functionally.
Rhinoplasty should be considered as a complementary element of your face. The role of your nose not only in itself, but also in the proportions of your face should be considered. Therefore, we address the following problems during rhinoplasty:
- Compatibility of the nose with the face
- The area covered by the nose on the face
- Shape of the back of the nose
- Condition of the middle part of the nose
- Shape and position of the tip of the nose
- Asymmetric structure of the nose
- Size of the nostrils
- Condition of the cartilages of the lower part
Nasal functions must be evaluated before rhinoplasty surgery. If there is a curvature in the septum (partition in the nose) or hypertrophy (growth) in the nasal flesh, these problems should be corrected at the same time. Otherwise, breathing problems may occur after rhinoplasty.
The right candidates for rhinoplasty surgery usually have the following characteristics:
- Facial development is complete and over 18 years of age
- No chronic health problems
- Preferably non-smoker
- People with realistic expectations and a positive outlook
During the postoperative healing process, if septoplasty (nasal septum correction) has been performed, tampons must be used. This reduces the risk of postoperative bleeding. If only the tip of the nose is to be aesthetically corrected, no plaster is used because the nasal bones are not intervened. However, if rhinoplasty is to be performed on the whole nose, plaster is used for the nasal bones to heal as desired and this plaster stays for an average of 5-6 days.
There may be swelling in the nose in the first months after the operation and therefore breathing may be difficult. Heavy exercises and sports should be avoided during this period. It takes approximately one year for the results of rhinoplasty to settle completely. During this process, the improvement in the shape of the nose is seen step by step and different swelling may occur in the morning and evening.
After the surgery, our patients are kept under observation in our clinic for one night and ice applications are made. If there is no problem, the patient is discharged on the 1st day. During the first month, there may be difficulty in breathing due to intranasal oedema, but this is temporary. Also, there is no need to take stitches after surgery because the stitches are of the dissolving type.
After rhinoplasty, it usually takes one year for the results to be finalised. However, there may be slight changes in the shape of the nose with the aging process. To maintain the results in the best way, smoking should be avoided and excessive sun exposure should be avoided.
As ESTE North Clinic, we can summarise rhinoplasty surgery in the following steps:
- Anaesthesia: The patient’s sleep and awakening are managed by anaesthesiologists.
- Incisions: In cases where an open technique is required, an incision is made under the nose.
- Shaping of Nasal Structures: Nasal bones and cartilages are filed or removed.
- Septum Correction: If there is curvature in the septum, it is corrected.
- Closure of Incisions: The incisions are closed and no stitches are required.
- Waiting for the Result: Postoperative results may take a year or more to fully settle.
